Description: This item is a child’s tunic made of plain woven undyed linen. The body of the tunic is constructed from rectangular front and back panels. The right side is a single wedge shaped panel but two separate panels have been seamed together vertically to make the left side. The tunic has short sleeves. The right sleeve is a single piece of fabric whereas the left sleeve is constructed from 2 pieces, seamed half way across the arm. The hem and cuffs are embellished with a narrow embroidered border using black floss silk in a geometric pattern.
The faced neck opening has a slit at the front. The neck edge has a self fabric binding and the remains of a cord fastener.
The seams are all of flat fell construction. The lower edge and sleeves have been turned to form hems and slip stitched. All constructional stitching appears to be worked with Z, 2S undyed linen thread.
