Description: A round cap. The cap is quilted with similar cut and construction of the internal and external fabric layers. The quilting (back stitch) is supported internally by cellulosic(?) cord held with decorative stitching of linen thread. The fabric is plain woven, possibly linen. The exterior is dyed blue, the lining is undyed. The edge of the cap is formed from a band of fabric approx 60mm wide. Above this are 7 roughly triangular panels of fabric which meet in the centre of the top. In the top of the cap are small holes, with small buttonhole stitching round the edge. These probably provided ventilation.
There is one section of bright gold surface decoration.
