Description: An embroidered kimono inner collar (uraeri?) on cream crepe silk. One of a group of 12 collars, this piece has two embroidered symmetrical panels. There is a gold warp thread along the edge of the selvedge.
This embroidery in gold, white and browns depicts a fire lantern under a flowering cherry tree and roof or veranda. The second panel appears unfinished, and doesn't show as many flowers or the flames.
The fabric has been folded in the centre, and has folds at each end ready for construction.
Stitches found in this piece are 'fuzzy' effect or 'weft valley layer' - thread laid in to the weave of the fabric, flate single stitch for the flowers, couching, long satin stitch for the fire, and satin stitch.
