Description: The complex patterning on this fabric has been hand block printed. A patterned border surrounds the various central pattern motifs. The patterning on this piece is made up of two separate identical panels. The pattern on each has a border on three sides; on the fourth the motif on the central panel extends off the edge of the fabric. This suggests that the manufacturer may have intended to attach the pieces together with a central seam to form a single square of decorative textile, similar to other examples of block printed fabrics to be found in the collection.
